India raises cooking gas, jet fuel prices

## Price Hike Details

India has announced a significant increase in the prices of commercial liquified petroleum gas (LPG) and jet fuel. The cost of a 19-kilogram LPG cylinder for commercial use has risen by Rs993, marking a nearly 48% increase in New Delhi. This adjustment is part of the government's efforts to manage supply pressures caused by the ongoing conflict in Iran.

## Impact on Businesses

The price hike is expected to affect various sectors, particularly restaurants and manufacturers, which rely heavily on LPG. Many businesses have already been scaling back operations due to the disruptions in energy imports from the Middle East.

## Aviation Fuel Costs

In addition to LPG, the price of aviation turbine fuel (ATF) for international flights has also been increased by about 5% in Delhi. This rise in jet fuel costs could lead to higher airfares in the coming months.

## Government's Assurance

Despite these increases, the Indian government has assured that there is no overall fuel shortage in the country. Efforts are being made to ensure that households and essential services continue to receive adequate supplies of cooking gas.
