## Emirates Tops in International Capacity

In August, Emirates emerged as the leading airline globally in terms of international capacity, offering over 31 billion available seat kilometres (ASKs). This figure was about 21% higher than Ryanair, which ranked second with approximately 25.7 billion ASKs.

United Airlines secured the third position with around 22.8 billion ASKs, followed by Turkish Airlines with about 21.5 billion. Qatar Airways and Delta Air Lines were next, with 21 billion and 17 billion ASKs, respectively. British Airways, American Airlines, Air France, and Lufthansa completed the top ten.

## Significance of ASKs

ASKs are a key metric in the airline industry, calculated by multiplying the number of available seats by the distance flown. This measure highlights the scale of long-haul operations, where Emirates excels through its extensive network from Dubai.

## Recovery and Expansion

The ranking reflects the ongoing recovery of Dubai's aviation sector post-disruption from the US-Iran conflict. Emirates has resumed flights to Kuwait, although full services are yet to be restored. The focus remains on enhancing international connectivity as passenger demand rebounds.
