Indian equity markets open higher on easing crude oil prices

## Market Opening

Indian stock markets saw a positive start on Monday, buoyed by a significant drop in crude oil prices. The Sensex index increased by 549.21 points, reaching 76,608.98, while the Nifty index rose by 160.95 points to 23,928.40.

## Sector Performance

All sectoral indices were in the green during the opening session. The Nifty MidSmall Financial Services index led the gains with a 1.29% rise. Other notable performers included Nifty IT, which climbed 1.25%, and Nifty Media, up by 1.06%. Additionally, Nifty FMCG increased by 1%, Nifty Auto by 0.83%, and Nifty Chemicals by 0.80%.

## Crude Oil Impact

The decline in Brent crude oil prices, which fell from $102 to around $93, played a crucial role in boosting market sentiment. Experts suggest that if the West Asia conflict continues to de-escalate, further reductions in crude prices could sustain the market rally.

## Global Market Influence

The drop in oil prices also affected global markets. Brent crude fell over 7% to approximately $91 per barrel, while US WTI crude decreased by over 7%, falling below $85 per barrel. In Asia, Japan's Nikkei rose by 0.16%, Hong Kong's Hang Seng increased by about 1%, but South Korea's KOSPI dropped nearly 1% in early trading.
