Oman issues new corporate tax deduction rules, mandates THEQA login for tax portal

## New Tax Deduction Rules

Oman's Tax Authority has revised the Executive Regulation of the Income Tax Law, introducing new criteria for corporate expense deductions. These changes, effective from the 2027 tax year, require that expenses be essential to a company's main business activities and approved by the Tax Authority Chairman. They must also comply with legal obligations.

## Mandatory THEQA Login

Starting August 1, 2026, access to Oman's tax portal will require the THEQA digital identity application. This move aims to enhance security and identity verification. Users must download the app, ensure their devices support NFC technology, and register their Civil ID details. The login process will involve either scanning a QR code or entering a Civil Number for authentication.

## Compliance Deadline

The Tax Authority advises users to complete the THEQA registration and activation by August 1, 2026, to avoid service disruptions. This initiative is part of broader efforts to secure online services and streamline access for taxpayers.
