Anahat Singh has made history by becoming the first Indian to win the World Squash Junior Championships girls’ singles title. She defeated Egypt’s Ruqayya Salem in a decisive 3-0 victory in the 2026 final.

This win marks the end of Egypt's 15-year reign in the junior girls’ world championship, a title they had held since 2011. Anahat's performance was commanding throughout the tournament, dropping only two games in six matches.

## Path to the Title

Anahat began her campaign with a victory over Australian Lilly Wilson, followed by wins against Hong Kong's Pui Yin Chloe Lo and Malaysia's Doyce Ye San Lee. In the quarter-finals, she overcame Egypt’s Habiba Rizk, and in the semi-finals, she defeated Barb Sameh.

Her triumph surpasses Joshna Chinappa’s runner-up finish in 2005, which was previously India’s best performance at the junior world championships. Anahat had already secured a bronze medal last year, ending a 15-year medal drought for India in the event.
