## Allegations and Court Appearance
British sprinter CJ Ujah has firmly denied allegations of participating in a cryptocurrency fraud scheme. He was among ten individuals who appeared at Chelmsford Crown Court, accused of being part of an organized crime group. The group allegedly conducted a scam involving phone calls where callers impersonated police officers and cryptocurrency company representatives.
## Details of the Alleged Scam
Victims were reportedly tricked into revealing security information, leading to the theft of funds from their cryptocurrency wallets. One victim allegedly lost over £300,000. Ujah, listed in court as Chijindu Ujah, pleaded not guilty to the charge of conspiracy to defraud.
## Upcoming Legal Proceedings
A 12-week trial is scheduled to begin on May 24 next year at Chelmsford Crown Court, with a preliminary hearing set for September 9.
## Ujah's Athletic Background
CJ Ujah, 32, from Enfield, north London, is known for his achievements in athletics, including breaking the 10-second barrier in the 100 meters in 2014 and winning a gold medal in the 4x100m relay at the 2017 World Championships. He also competed in the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, where his team was stripped of their silver medal due to a positive test for banned substances, although he was later cleared of intentional doping.
