## Overcoming Driving Anxiety
Sheethal Manoj, at the age of 45, decided to tackle her driving anxiety by enrolling in driving classes in Dubai. Despite holding a license from her home country for over 15 years, she had never driven. Her journey was fraught with challenges, including panic during lessons and the demanding nature of Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) test.
## Gender Stereotypes in Driving
Manoj observed that women are often stereotyped as poor drivers, a notion she attributes to societal upbringing. She noted that boys are typically encouraged to engage in activities that develop spatial skills, unlike girls. This realization prompted her to advocate for equal opportunities for girls to develop these skills from a young age.
## The Learning Experience
Her driving instructor, a patient and skilled individual from Pakistan, helped her navigate the roads of Mankhool. Despite initial fears and setbacks, Manoj persevered, motivated by the financial investment in her lessons and a personal determination not to give up.
## Success After Perseverance
After multiple attempts, Manoj successfully passed the RTA test on her third try. The experience was intense, with the inspectors being highly vigilant. Passing the test was a significant relief, marking the end of a challenging journey and the beginning of her independent driving experience.
## Encouraging the Next Generation
Manoj has since enrolled her daughter in driving classes at 18, ensuring she doesn't face the same late start. Her story highlights the importance of challenging stereotypes and encouraging equal skill development for both genders.
