RTA’s new mega project ease Dubai traffic, cut commutes to five minutes

## Major Road Upgrade

Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has initiated a significant upgrade to Hessa Street, one of the city's busiest corridors. The project aims to alleviate congestion and reduce travel times significantly.

## Phase II Developments

The second phase of the Hessa Street Development will expand the road from two to four lanes in each direction, effectively doubling its capacity. This expansion is expected to cut commute times from 24 minutes to just five minutes for nearly 650,000 residents in surrounding communities.

## Infrastructure Enhancements

The project includes the construction of bridges and a tunnel to facilitate smoother traffic flow. Three major intersections will be transformed into multilevel interchanges, improving connectivity between key roads such as Al Khail Road and Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road.

## Sustainable Transport Initiatives

In line with Dubai's vision for sustainable transport, the project will feature a 10.4km cycling and e-scooter track. This track will connect Dubai Hills and Dubai Motor City, promoting alternative modes of transport and reducing reliance on cars.

## Community Impact

The upgrades are set to benefit a large number of residents by providing faster and safer travel options. The improvements are part of a broader strategy to ensure Dubai's infrastructure keeps pace with its rapid urban development.
