## ICC's New Roadmap
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has introduced a five-year plan to help Afghanistan's refugee women's cricket team qualify for ICC events by 2030. This initiative was approved at the ICC Annual Conference in Edinburgh, marking a significant step for the team as they aim to compete internationally.
## Task Force and Development
A Special Task Force has been restructured to guide the team's development. This group includes ICC Independent Director Ros Rivaz and members from major cricket boards like the BCCI, Cricket Australia, and the ECB. Their role is to ensure the team receives structured coaching and competitive opportunities.
## Training and Tours
Recently, the team toured England, participating in T20 matches and receiving high-performance training. This was organized in collaboration with the Marylebone Cricket Club and its foundation. Earlier, they played against a Cricket Without Borders XI in Melbourne, which was streamed by Cricket Australia.
## Player Perspectives
Team member Firooza Afghan expressed optimism about the roadmap, highlighting the importance of training and international tours in their development. Former Australian cricketer Mel Jones praised the ICC's commitment, emphasizing the team's role as inspiring figures for women globally.
## Future Goals
The Afghan refugee women's cricket team is determined to make the most of this opportunity, with a clear goal of participating in ICC qualification pathways by 2030. Their journey is seen as a testament to talent and determination, with hopes of achieving significant milestones in the coming years.
