Flying Emirates? 100 retrofitted aircraft now feature new cabins and Premium Economy

## Emirates' Fleet Upgrade

Emirates has successfully retrofitted 100 aircraft as part of a significant $5 billion investment to enhance its fleet. This refurbishment includes the addition of new cabins and a Premium Economy class, aimed at improving passenger experience.

## Details of the Retrofit

The upgrade program, which began in November 2022, involves 47 Airbus A380s and 53 Boeing 777s. The airline plans to retrofit a total of 219 aircraft by the end of 2026, with 20 more expected to be completed this year.

## Premium Economy Expansion

The airline is expanding its Premium Economy offering to 99 destinations by the end of the year. Over 3,800 Premium Economy seats have been installed across the retrofitted aircraft, providing more options for travelers.

## Extensive Engineering Effort

The retrofit process has taken 44 months and involved over 400 engineers and technicians. Each aircraft's interior is stripped and updated with new cabins, seats, and fittings. The project has required collaboration with more than 100 suppliers.

## Future Plans

Emirates plans to introduce new features such as 4K OLED HDR10+ entertainment screens and lightweight seats in future retrofits. The airline is also repurposing materials from old cabins for new products, including backpacks for children in need.
