## Incident Overview
The UAE Ministry of Defence has reported that two national tankers, named Mombasa and Al Bahiyah, were struck by Iranian cruise missiles in the southern part of the Strait of Hormuz. This incident occurred within Omani territorial waters.
## Casualties and Damage
The attack resulted in the death of one crew member aboard the Mombasa, who was an Indian national. Additionally, eight other crew members were injured, including six Indians and two Ukrainians, with four sustaining serious injuries. Both tankers suffered material damage due to fires, which have since been extinguished.
## Official Response
The UAE Ministry of Defence condemned the attack, labeling it a severe violation of international law and a threat to regional security. The Ministry emphasized the UAE's right to respond to such escalations to protect its sovereignty and interests. They assured that all necessary measures are being taken to address any threats to the nation's security.
