Paid Dh93,000 for residency abroad, wins refund in Dubai court

## Court Ruling

A Dubai court has ruled in favor of a man who paid nearly Dh93,000 to an immigration services company for residency abroad, ordering the company to refund the full amount. The court also awarded Dh10,000 in damages and set an annual interest rate of 5% from the date the judgment becomes final until full payment is made.

## Case Details

The claimant, an Arab national, had initially signed a contract in May 2023 with the company to secure permanent residency in Canada for CAD16,500. The agreement was later modified to pursue a skilled worker visa in the UK. Despite paying the full amount, the company failed to deliver the promised services, prompting the legal action.

## Court Findings

The court found that the company breached its contractual obligations by not providing the agreed services. The claimant had sought Dh50,000 for financial and moral damages, but the court awarded Dh10,000, acknowledging the material and emotional harm caused by the breach.
