When starting a job in the UAE, it's crucial to thoroughly review your employment contract beyond just the salary. Understanding these terms can significantly impact your work life and rights.
## Contract Type and Duration
Most private-sector jobs in the UAE are based on fixed-term contracts. It's important to verify the start and end dates, renewal conditions, and notice periods for resignation or termination. Ensure consistency between your contract and the original offer letter.
## Salary Breakdown
Your contract should clearly outline your basic salary and any allowances. This is vital as benefits like end-of-service gratuity are calculated on the basic salary, not the total package.
## Probation Period
The probation period in the UAE can last up to six months. During this time, either party can terminate the contract with written notice. Failing to provide notice can lead to penalties, including a work permit ban.
## Working Hours and Overtime
Standard working hours are up to 8 hours a day or 48 hours a week. Overtime rules vary, with some roles exempt. Clarify whether overtime is paid or compensated with time off.
## Annual Leave

## Contract Changes
