## Early Challenges and Career Decisions
Shabbir Mithaiwala, an Indian expatriate in Dubai, initially aimed to become a Chartered Accountant. However, financial constraints and family responsibilities redirected his path. After completing his schooling in Sharjah, he moved to Mumbai in 2009 to pursue a Bachelor of Commerce degree while also studying for Chartered Accountancy. He juggled college, CA classes, and night shifts at a call center to support himself.
## Turning Point: Family and Business
In the midst of his studies, Mithaiwala received news that his father had lost his eyesight, prompting him to return to Dubai. Faced with the decision to either continue his CA career or take over the struggling family picture-frame business, he chose the latter. The business was on the brink of collapse, but Mithaiwala saw potential in its existing trade license.
## Reinventing the Business
From 2013 to 2016, Mithaiwala focused on learning and rebuilding the family business, eventually transforming it into Glass R US Industries in 2017. The shift from picture frames to luxury architectural glass was risky but strategic. He identified opportunities in the hospitality sector, initially working with just two clients to establish a foundation for growth.
## Building a Luxury Brand
With the support of his brothers, Ali and Sadek, Mithaiwala expanded the business to serve luxury hotels and premium developments across the UAE. Projects like Bulgari Mansion and Royal Atlantis became significant milestones. His dedication to service and commitment to clients became key competitive advantages.
## Reflecting on Success
Mithaiwala attributes his success to hard work and the support of his brothers, who played crucial roles in the company's growth. Although his career took unexpected turns, he remains focused on repaying those who supported him during challenging times. His journey from aspiring accountant to successful entrepreneur highlights resilience and adaptability.
