## A Life-Changing Question
In June 2014, during Ramadan, Bobby Kapoor's perspective on success shifted due to a question from his 10-year-old daughter. Instead of a traditional birthday party, the family prepared meals for fasting workers. After the event, she asked, "Isn't it someone's birthday every day?" This question profoundly impacted Kapoor, influencing his family's Ramadan traditions and his understanding of success in the UAE.
## Journey to the UAE
Kapoor moved to Dubai in 2008, transitioning from a chef to an entrepreneur and mentor. His career began in India, followed by a stint in the UK, before the global financial crisis led him to the Middle East. In Dubai, he joined a food ingredients company, expanding his role beyond culinary expertise to include sales across the region.
## Building a Community Initiative
Inspired by his daughter's question, Kapoor initiated a community effort to distribute meals during Ramadan. This initiative has grown significantly, involving volunteers, schools, and businesses. Despite challenges, they managed to distribute up to 4,500 meals daily.
## Beyond Food Distribution
Kapoor's efforts extended beyond meal distribution. He collaborated with volunteer groups and schools to recognize and develop the skills of blue-collar workers interested in cooking. Using professional kitchens, these workers participated in culinary competitions and training sessions.
## Mentoring and Sharing Knowledge
Kapoor believes in the power of sharing knowledge. He mentors young chefs and aspiring entrepreneurs, emphasizing that success is not just about personal achievements but also about contributing to the community.
## Success in the UAE
Reflecting on his time in the UAE, Kapoor highlights the importance of respecting opportunities and investing in community relationships. For him, success is about adding value to the place that has become his home, a lesson rooted in his daughter's simple yet profound question.
