## UAE's Call for Global Cooperation
During the United Nations Counter-Terrorism Week, the UAE emphasized the growing threat posed by artificial intelligence and other emerging technologies in the realm of terrorism. The event, held from June 29 to July 2, 2026, in New York, focused on strengthening global efforts to combat terrorism through multi-stakeholder approaches.
## Key UAE Representatives
Dr. Mohamed Al Kuwaiti, the UAE Government's Head of Cybersecurity, and Maqsoud Kruse, the Minister of Foreign Affairs' Envoy for Countering Extremism and Terrorism, led the UAE delegation. They stressed the importance of international cooperation in addressing the misuse of technology by extremist groups.
## Strategic Discussions
The UAE participated in discussions on countering the misuse of AI and emerging technologies, highlighting the need for trusted partnerships and responsible innovation to enhance global security. They also reaffirmed their commitment to disrupting terrorist financing and combating extremist narratives.
## High-Level Side Events
The UAE co-hosted two significant side events. The first focused on AI's role in future counter-terrorism efforts, organized with partners including India, Japan, and the EU. The second addressed the threat of terrorist use of unmanned aircraft systems, co-hosted with Japan, Korea, and Portugal.

Dr. Al Kuwaiti highlighted the transformative impact of technologies like AI and UAS on counter-terrorism strategies. He called for secure systems, legal frameworks, and enhanced information-sharing to counter these threats effectively.
