## UAE's Call for Global Cooperation

During the United Nations Counter-Terrorism Week, the UAE emphasized the growing risks posed by artificial intelligence and emerging technologies in the realm of terrorism. The event, held from June 29 to July 2, 2026, focused on consolidating global efforts to counter terrorism through collaborative approaches.

## UAE's Leadership and Initiatives

Dr. Mohamed Al Kuwaiti, the UAE's Head of Cybersecurity, and Maqsoud Kruse, the Envoy for Countering Extremism and Terrorism, led the UAE delegation. They stressed the importance of international cooperation in combating extremism and terrorism, particularly in preventing the misuse of AI and other technologies by terrorist groups.

## High-Level Side Events

The UAE co-hosted two significant side events. The first, in collaboration with India, Japan, and the EU, focused on AI's role in future counter-terrorism efforts. The second event, co-hosted with Japan, Korea, and Portugal, addressed the threat posed by terrorist use of unmanned aircraft systems (UAS).

## Emphasis on Cybersecurity

Dr. Al Kuwaiti highlighted the critical role of cybersecurity in responding to technological threats. He called for secure systems, clear legal frameworks, and enhanced information-sharing to counter the exploitation of AI and UAS by terrorists.

## Promoting Tolerance and Resilience

Maqsoud Kruse emphasized the need for international responses to terrorism, focusing on preventing extremism and promoting tolerance and coexistence. The UAE reiterated its commitment to working with global partners to enhance peace and security.
