## New Legal Amendments
Kuwait has revised its Civil and Commercial Procedures Law to expedite the processing of travel ban orders. This change, enacted under Decree-Law No. 68 of 2026, aims to address delays caused by a limited number of authorized judges.
## Expanded Judicial Authority
Previously, only the director of the Execution Department and deputy judges of the Court of First Instance could issue travel bans. The new amendment allows any judge from the Court of First Instance, as designated by the court's General Assembly, to handle these requests.
## Addressing Judicial Shortages
The amendment responds to a shortage of judges at the deputy level, which had been causing delays in processing travel ban applications. By broadening the pool of judges, the government hopes to ensure that decisions are made promptly after applications are submitted.
## Implementation and Legislative Background
The legislative change is backed by the Amiri Order of May 10, 2024, which permits laws to be enacted through decrees. The new law is effective immediately upon its publication in the Official Gazette, with relevant ministers tasked with its implementation.
