Ajman Free Zone targets secondary Indian cities, China as it ramps up global expansion

## Expansion Plans Ajman Free Zone is intensifying its global outreach by planning to double its international offices by next year. The focus is on attracting manufacturers, SMEs, and investors from key markets like India and China. Currently, the free zone has established 10 overseas offices and aims to increase this number to 20.

## Targeting Indian and Chinese Markets India remains a significant target, with existing offices in Delhi, Kerala, and Chennai. The strategy is to engage businesses in tier-2 and tier-3 cities, which are often underserved. In addition, the free zone is expanding into China, Turkey, Russia, Egypt, and Paris to connect with businesses closer to their home markets.

## Manufacturing and Retail Developments Ajman Free Zone is also focusing on securing more industrial land to attract large manufacturing projects from countries like China and India. The authority is working with government leaders to identify additional industrial areas for global manufacturers. In the retail sector, the China Mall Ajman is set to expand, with a second phase planned to meet growing demand.

## Automotive and Digital Advancements The automotive district is expanding, with discussions underway to open a showroom for Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer BYD. Investments in digital systems have significantly reduced the time required to set up businesses, now taking about an hour compared to the previous 10 to 15 days.

## Economic Contributions Ajman Free Zone plays a crucial role in the emirate's economy, contributing to a GDP of around $10 billion in 2024. Manufacturing, textiles, and plastics are key sectors, with exports to Saudi Arabia reaching $1.4 billion last year. The free zone offers over 3,000 business activities and continues to provide tax advantages for businesses.
