## New Partnerships to Boost Textile Circularity
Naseej, the UAE's National Initiative for Textile Circularity, has announced 14 new strategic partnerships aimed at enhancing textile recycling and sustainability efforts across the country. This expansion brings together over 35 organizations from various sectors, including public, private, academic, and community groups.
## Focus on Reducing Textile Waste
The initiative, which aims to minimize textile waste through collection, reuse, and recycling, has seen significant support from entities such as ADNOC, Aldar, and PureHealth. These partnerships will work on developing efficient textile collection systems, promoting research and innovation, and raising public awareness about textile circularity.
## Pilot Projects and Future Plans
Several pilot projects are already in progress, including textile take-back programs in retail outlets and school uniform recycling schemes. Naseej is also working on circular uniform programs for industries with high textile usage, such as healthcare and aviation.
## Long-term Goals and Collaboration
Ahmed Talib Al Shamsi, CEO of Emirates Foundation, emphasized the importance of collaboration across sectors to achieve sustainable textile management. The initiative aligns with Abu Dhabi's goal to divert 80% of waste from landfills by 2031.
## Upcoming Report on Fashion Circularity
Later this year, Naseej plans to release the first "State of Fashion Circularity in the UAE" report, which will assess the country's readiness to adopt circular practices in the fashion industry. The initiative continues to invite more stakeholders to join in building a sustainable textile future for the UAE.
