Jassim's father, Mohammed Al Shehi, was in the UAE when he received the devastating news from his eldest son. Initially thinking it was a minor issue, he soon learned of the serious accident involving Jassim. The boy had been hit by a car while walking to a nearby store. The driver, a woman, was detained for 21 days as part of the legal process.

The news of Jassim's death sent shockwaves through the Ras Al Khaimah community, with many offering condolences to the grieving family. The trip, which was the children's mother's first visit home in five years, was intended to be a joyful reunion but ended in sorrow.
