EGA restarts 89 Al Taweelah cells after March 28 Iranian attack

## Restoration Progress at Al Taweelah

Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA) has successfully restarted 89 reduction cells at its Al Taweelah aluminium complex in Abu Dhabi. This marks significant progress in restoring operations after the site was damaged by Iranian attacks on March 28. The company aims to restore full production within a year.

## Recovery Efforts

A dedicated team has been working to ensure a safe and efficient restart of the facilities. Key infrastructure repairs have been completed, and utilities like natural gas and electricity are being restored. The process involves gradually bringing back all 1,262 reduction cells, with anode removal and bath cleaning nearly complete.

## Casthouse and Recycling Operations

The Al Taweelah Casthouse resumed operations on May 4, producing cast metal by remelting frozen metal and casting hot metal from restored cells. The recycling plant, which was in final commissioning at the time of the incident, restarted production in early May and is expected to reach full capacity in six months.

## Jebel Ali Operations

EGA’s Jebel Ali site continues to operate at full capacity, providing a stable production base. The company has managed to maintain raw material supplies and is gradually reducing stockpiles by setting up alternative logistics routes.

## Future Outlook

EGA is exploring all opportunities to accelerate the restoration process and aims to emerge stronger. The company is also working on optimizing its supply chains to support a rapid ramp-up of production at the Al Taweelah alumina refinery.
