India to build AI supercomputer with UAE partnership

## Major AI Supercomputer Initiative

India is embarking on a significant technological venture by partnering with the UAE to construct a powerful AI supercomputer. This collaboration involves Abu Dhabi's G42, the Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI), US-based Cerebras, and India's Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC).

## Unveiling at AI Impact Summit

The announcement was made at the AI Impact Summit 2026 in New Delhi. The supercomputer will boast a capacity of 8 exaflops, enhancing India's ability to develop and implement advanced AI systems domestically.

## Strengthening Bilateral Ties

This project follows recent high-level discussions between India and the UAE, including strategic dialogues and visits by UAE leaders to India. These talks have bolstered cooperation in technology and other sectors.

## Data Sovereignty and Economic Growth

The supercomputer will be hosted in India, ensuring data remains within the country. Manu Jain, CEO of G42 India, emphasized the importance of national AI infrastructure for economic growth and innovation.

## Access for Various Sectors

Once operational, the supercomputer will be accessible to universities, startups, and government bodies, aiming to reduce AI development costs. This will particularly benefit sectors like healthcare, agriculture, and education.

## Building on Past Collaborations

This initiative builds on previous collaborations, such as the release of the NANDA 87B language model. As India continues to invest in AI, this supercomputer is expected to enhance the country's capacity to develop secure and scalable AI systems.
