## Visa Waiver Extension Armenia has extended its visa-free entry policy for residents of the UAE and citizens of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries until July 1, 2027. This initiative, originally launched last year, aims to attract more tourists from the region.
## Eligible Travelers The visa waiver applies to citizens of Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, and Oman, as well as foreign nationals with valid residency permits from the UAE, EU, Schengen countries, and several other nations. Eligible visitors can stay in Armenia for up to 180 days within a year.
## Tourism Growth The extension is part of Armenia's strategy to boost its tourism sector. From January to May 2026, the country saw a 19.3% increase in tourist arrivals compared to the same period in 2025. New direct flights and marketing efforts have raised Armenia's profile as a travel destination.
## Regional Travel Challenges Despite increased interest, travel to Armenia has faced challenges due to regional airspace disruptions, particularly the closure of Iranian airspace. However, travel agents report ongoing demand, especially with the start of summer holidays.
## Future Prospects Armenia's tourism sector is expected to benefit from international events and increased global attention. The country continues to promote its cultural and historical attractions while addressing regional security concerns.
