## Accident Overview
In a tragic incident in Egypt's Assiut governorate, nine children lost their lives when a three-wheeled cargo vehicle fell into the Nag Hammadi Canal. The accident occurred in the Abu Tig district on Tuesday, involving children and young workers aged between 10 and 17.
## Search and Rescue Efforts
Authorities have been actively searching for the vehicle's driver, a 48-year-old man, who remains missing. Rescue teams have been deployed to the scene, including police, civil defense, and river rescue units. The bodies of the victims were recovered, and the injured were taken to nearby hospitals.
## Investigation Underway
Preliminary findings suggest the driver lost control of the vehicle, leading to the accident. The Public Prosecution has launched an investigation to determine if negligence or criminal actions contributed to the tragedy. An inspection of the accident site has been ordered, and a police report is being prepared to assist in the investigation.
