## Diplomatic Efforts in Doha
US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner recently met with Qatari mediators in Doha to discuss regional peace efforts amid ongoing tensions between the US and Iran. Despite these discussions, Qatar clarified that no direct talks between the US and Iran are currently taking place.
## Conflicting Signals
The situation remains uncertain as President Donald Trump announced potential talks in Qatar, which Iran subsequently denied. This comes as the Strait of Hormuz sees a gradual resumption of commercial shipping, although traffic is still below normal levels.
## Iran's Preconditions for Talks
Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf stated that Iran will not engage in further negotiations until specific conditions of a memorandum of understanding are met. These include the cessation of hostilities in Lebanon and the removal of a US naval blockade.
## Maritime Security Concerns
The Joint Maritime Information Center has raised the threat level in the Strait of Hormuz to "substantial," citing risks such as mines and drone activity. Despite these concerns, shipping operations continue without major disruptions.
## Regional Developments
In other regional news, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has vowed to maintain a military presence in southern Lebanon as long as Hezbollah poses a threat. Meanwhile, the UAE has lifted its travel ban to Lebanon, allowing citizens to visit under specific conditions.
