## Summit Rescheduling
India has announced the postponement of a major summit focused on the conservation of big cat species. Originally set for early June, the event will be rescheduled to accommodate African nations currently dealing with an Ebola outbreak.
## Impact of Ebola
The decision follows the delay of the India-Africa Forum Summit, which was also postponed due to the Ebola situation in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The outbreak has prompted India to ensure that African countries can participate in the conservation discussions.
## Global Conservation Efforts
The summit aims to bring together representatives from nearly 95 countries across Asia, Africa, and the Americas. India, which hosts a significant portion of the world's tiger population, is leading efforts to protect big cats globally. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has advocated for a global alliance to combat poaching and enhance conservation efforts.
## Future Plans
New dates for the summit will be announced later. The Indian government has committed $18 million over five years to support the International Big Cat Alliance, based in New Delhi, to further these conservation initiatives.
