Saudi Arabia fines Saudi German Health officials over SR358 million accounting violations

## CMA Ruling on Saudi German Health

Saudi Arabia's Capital Market Authority (CMA) has penalized officials from the Middle East Healthcare Company, which operates Saudi German Health hospitals, for accounting violations. The CMA's appeals committee found 11 board and audit committee members guilty of inflating revenues and providing misleading financial statements.

## Details of the Violations

The violations involved recognizing revenues totaling SR358.04 million, despite knowing the low likelihood of collecting these dues. This created a misleading impression of the company's financial health. The financial discrepancies spanned from December 31, 2018, to September 30, 2021, leading to inflated revenues and assets in the company's disclosures.

## Penalties Imposed

The convicted individuals received fines amounting to approximately SR18 million. Additionally, they are banned from working in CMA-supervised entities for six months to a year. The ruling was coordinated with relevant authorities and is linked to a public criminal case initiated by the Public Prosecution in March 2024.

## Investor Compensation

Investors affected by these violations can seek compensation through the Committee for Resolution of Securities Disputes after filing complaints with the CMA.
