## Controversial Scene Sparks Outrage
Suriya's latest film, "Karuppu," has become embroiled in controversy due to a scene perceived as mocking renowned composer Ilaiyaraaja. The film, which has been performing well at the box office, features a comedic sequence involving the song "Poradada" from the 1985 movie "Alai Osai." A dialogue following the song was interpreted by many as a jab at Ilaiyaraaja's legal battles over music rights.
## Apology and Resolution
In response to the backlash, production house Dream Warrior Pictures issued an apology, emphasizing their respect for Ilaiyaraaja and clarifying that the dialogue was not intended as a personal attack. They assured audiences that the contentious line would be edited or removed in future versions of the film.
## Previous Challenges
This controversy follows another hurdle for "Karuppu," which faced a delayed release due to financial issues. Despite these challenges, the film has achieved significant commercial success, grossing Rs 82.3 crore domestically and Rs 141.30 crore worldwide, marking it as Suriya's highest-grossing film to date.
