## Eid Al Adha 2026 Dates
Eid Al Adha in the UAE will be observed on May 27, 2026, with the Day of Arafah on May 26. The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation has declared a four-day paid holiday for private sector employees from May 26 to May 29, with work resuming on June 1.
## Compensation for Working on Public Holidays
Under UAE Labour Law, specifically Federal Decree-Law No. 33 of 2021, private sector employees required to work on public holidays are entitled to compensation. Article 28 outlines two options for employers to compensate their employees:
1. **Compensatory Day Off**: Employees must receive an additional rest day for each public holiday worked, separate from their annual leave.
2. **Enhanced Holiday Pay**: Employees should receive their regular daily wage plus at least 50% extra of their basic salary for the day worked.
Employers have the discretion to choose between these options, but must adhere to the minimum standards set by the law.
## Addressing Compensation Issues
If an employee believes they have not been properly compensated for working during Eid, they should first address the issue with their employer. If unresolved, a complaint can be filed with the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, which will mediate the dispute.
