## Enhanced Screening Measures
The United States has announced new measures to prevent the spread of Ebola, focusing on travelers from regions affected by the outbreak. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) will screen passengers arriving from high-risk areas and has temporarily suspended visa services for these regions.
## International Health Emergency
The World Health Organization (WHO) has declared the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo an international health emergency. The outbreak has resulted in over 90 suspected deaths, with around 350 cases reported. Most affected individuals are between 20 and 39 years old, and over 60% are women.
## US Public Health Response
The CDC assesses the immediate risk to the US public as low but is prepared to adjust measures as needed. Entry restrictions are in place for non-US passport holders who have recently traveled to Uganda, DRC, or South Sudan. The US embassy in Kampala has paused visa services, notifying affected applicants.
## Coordination and Support
The CDC is coordinating the safe withdrawal of a small number of Americans impacted by the outbreak. Despite the US withdrawal from WHO, CDC officials are working with international partners and health officials in affected countries to support containment efforts, including contact tracing and laboratory testing.
