## Major Renewable Energy Project Launched

Oman has taken a significant step in its renewable energy strategy with the signing of a power purchase agreement for a large-scale project in Mahout and Duqm. The initiative, a collaboration between Nama Power and Water Procurement and O-Green, aims to deliver continuous clean energy by integrating wind, solar, and battery storage systems.

## Project Details

The project boasts a total installed capacity of 2.7 gigawatts and is designed to provide a stable electricity supply around the clock. It combines solar photovoltaic generation, wind power, and battery energy storage to ensure a reliable power output of approximately 770 megawatts.

## Strategic Importance

This development is a key component of Oman Vision 2040, which focuses on reducing carbon emissions and enhancing the country's renewable energy capabilities. By addressing the intermittency issues of solar and wind power, the project supports the integration of clean energy into the national grid.

## Leadership and Vision

The agreement was signed under the patronage of Sultan bin Salim bin Said Al Habsi, Minister of Finance. Leaders from both Nama Power and Water Procurement and O-Green emphasized the project's role in transforming Oman's energy sector and supporting a low-carbon economy.

## O-Green's Role

O-Green, a national renewable energy platform, is instrumental in this project. The company, a partnership between OQ Alternative Energy and Naqaa Sustainable Energy, focuses on accelerating clean-energy projects and building national capabilities in renewable technologies.

## Future Prospects

With a project portfolio exceeding 11 gigawatts of solar and wind generation, O-Green is positioned to play a significant role in Oman's transition to a clean-energy hub. The company has already secured substantial generation and storage capacities, reinforcing its commitment to supporting net-zero targets.
