## Robot Monk Gabi Leads the Parade
In a unique blend of tradition and technology, humanoid robot monks participated in Seoul's Lotus Lantern Festival parade. The event, which took place ahead of Buddha's Birthday, featured the robot monk "Gabi," developed by South Korea's Jogye Order. Gabi interacted with the crowd by bowing and greeting spectators, marching alongside traditional lantern displays.
## Bridging Tradition and Modernity
The inclusion of robot monks in the festival highlights Buddhism's efforts to engage with younger generations through modern technology and artificial intelligence. Organizers emphasized that this initiative aims to connect the ancient teachings of Buddhism with contemporary society.
## A Celebration of Peace and Unity
The annual Yeondeunghoe festival, recognized by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage event, transformed the streets of Seoul with vibrant lotus lanterns, dancers, and performers. The festival celebrates themes of peace, hope, and unity, drawing large crowds to the South Korean capital.
