## Major Infrastructure Development
Dubai is undertaking a significant road infrastructure project aimed at drastically reducing travel time along the Al Shindagha Corridor. The initiative, led by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), is expected to cut journey times from 104 minutes to just 16 minutes by the year 2030.
## Al Khaleej Street Tunnel
A key component of this project is the Al Khaleej Street Tunnel, which is 80% complete. This tunnel spans 1,650 meters and will feature three lanes in each direction, allowing for the passage of up to 12,000 vehicles per hour. It connects the Infinity Bridge ramp in Deira to the intersection of Al Khaleej Street and Al Wuheida Street.
## Project Scope and Impact
The Al Shindagha Corridor Improvement Project covers a 13-kilometer stretch, including upgrades to 15 major intersections. It is designed to support existing communities and future developments like Dubai Islands and Dubai Maritime City. The project is expected to benefit around one million people.
## Additional Developments
The project also includes converting roundabouts into signalized intersections and improving road connections. A new bridge, part of the corridor project, will link Bur Dubai to Dubai Islands, featuring four lanes in each direction and accommodating 16,000 vehicles per hour.
## Safety and Workforce
The construction has maintained high safety standards, with nearly eight million safe work hours recorded. A workforce of over 1,500 engineers and technicians, supported by 221 machines, is actively engaged in the project.
