## Historic Observation
Abu Dhabi has successfully captured the first daylight image of the Dhu Al Hijjah crescent for the year 1447H. This significant observation was made by the Al Khatim Astronomical Observatory on Sunday morning at 9:20 am.
## Details of the Observation
The crescent moon was positioned 7.8 degrees from the sun and was approximately nine hours old at the time of capture. This image was taken by astronomer Mohammed Shawkat Odeh, with assistance from team members Khalfan Al Nuaimi, Osama Ghannam, and Anas Mohammed.
## Moon-Sighting Efforts
The UAE Fatwa Council has called upon experts and the public to observe the crescent after sunset on May 17. Observations are crucial for determining the start of Dhu Al Hijjah and the date of Eid Al Adha.
## Upcoming Dates
Astronomical predictions suggest that the crescent will be visible across many parts of the Islamic world on Sunday evening. Consequently, Monday, May 18, is expected to be the first day of Dhu Al Hijjah, with Eid Al Adha anticipated to begin on Wednesday, May 27, in most Islamic countries.
