Massive fire breaks out in India’s Rajdhani Express train; passengers evacuated

## Incident Overview

A fire broke out in the B-1 air-conditioned coach of the Thiruvananthapuram–Hazrat Nizamuddin Rajdhani Express early Sunday morning in Madhya Pradesh's Ratlam district. The incident occurred around 5:15 am local time, prompting the evacuation of all 68 passengers aboard.

## Immediate Response

Railway officials quickly detached the affected coach and cut off the overhead electric supply to prevent further damage. The fire was brought under control, and no injuries were reported. Passengers were safely evacuated and accommodated in other coaches to continue their journey.

## Impact on Rail Operations

The incident disrupted rail traffic on the New Delhi–Mumbai line, causing delays for several trains, including the Mumbai–Jaipur Superfast Express. Efforts are underway to clear the tracks and resume normal operations.

## Investigation and Safety Measures

Preliminary reports suggest a short circuit might have caused the fire, but a thorough investigation is being conducted to determine the exact cause. An additional coach is expected to be attached at Kota station to ensure passengers can complete their journey without further inconvenience.
