## Community Effort Saves Youssef
A 10-year-old Iraqi boy named Youssef Haider has received a life-saving injection for Duchenne muscular dystrophy, thanks to a successful fundraising campaign in the UAE. The community raised Dh10.6 million, enabling Youssef to access the world's most expensive therapeutic injection.
## A Mother's Relief
Youssef's mother expressed immense gratitude, stating that the UAE's intervention not only saved her son's life but also brought hope to their family. Youssef had been diagnosed with the rare genetic disorder at age four, which progressively weakens muscles and the heart.
## Medical Journey
Before receiving the injection, Youssef underwent extensive medical examinations and treatments. His father, Haider Al Waeli, highlighted the comprehensive support provided by the UAE, which was crucial in securing the necessary funds for the treatment.
