UAE Minister: We do not wait for protection and we can deter aggression

## UAE Rejects Iranian Claims at BRICS Meeting

During the BRICS Foreign Ministers' Meeting in New Delhi, the UAE firmly dismissed Iranian claims and justifications for attacks targeting the nation and its neighbors. Khalifa Shaheen Al Marar, UAE Minister of State, emphasized that these attacks violate the United Nations Charter and international law, and undermine principles of good neighborliness.

## Sovereign Rights and Defense

Al Marar highlighted the UAE's unwavering stance against any threats to its sovereignty and national security. He stated that the country retains full rights to respond to any hostile acts, and that external pressures or accusations will not deter the UAE from safeguarding its interests.

## Repeated Attacks and International Condemnation

Since February 28, 2026, the UAE has faced nearly 3,000 missile and drone attacks targeting civilian infrastructure. Despite widespread international condemnation, including a UN Security Council resolution co-sponsored by 136 countries, Iran has continued its aggressive actions.

## Global Support Against Attacks

The international community has broadly condemned these attacks, with resolutions from the International Maritime Organization and the International Civil Aviation Organization denouncing Iranian actions. These resolutions affirm the UAE's right to defend its sovereignty and highlight the global consensus against such violations.

## Strait of Hormuz and Regional Stability

Al Marar accused Iran of obstructing international shipping lanes, particularly the Strait of Hormuz, which he described as a violation of international law. He warned that such actions threaten regional stability and global energy security.

## UAE's Commitment to Defense

The minister reiterated that the UAE does not rely on external protection and is capable of deterring aggression. He stressed that Iran bears full responsibility for the attacks and their consequences, and called for respect for state sovereignty and adherence to international law as foundations for lasting stability.
