## Major Offshore Wind Farm Projects Approved

Masdar and RWE have received the green light to proceed with the Dogger Bank South offshore wind farm projects. These projects, located over 100 kilometers off the northeast coast of England, are set to significantly boost renewable energy capacity in the UK.

## Capacity and Impact

The two wind farms, named DBS West and DBS East, will have a combined capacity of 3 gigawatts. This is enough to supply electricity to approximately 3 million homes annually. The projects are expected to create numerous job opportunities and stimulate economic growth in the Yorkshire and Humber regions.

## Project Timeline and Development

The planning process began in June 2024, involving extensive documentation and multiple hearings. With planning permission now granted, Masdar and RWE will focus on finalizing designs and procurement strategies. A final investment decision is anticipated in 2027.

## Joint Venture Details

The projects are being developed through a joint venture, with RWE holding a 51% stake and Masdar owning 49%. Earlier this year, the projects secured Contracts for Difference from the UK Government, ensuring financial stability for the development phase.
