## Erik Fleming's Sentencing
Erik Fleming, a former drug counselor turned television director, has been sentenced to two years in federal prison for his involvement in the death of actor Matthew Perry. This marks a significant development in the legal proceedings following Perry's overdose death.
## Details of the Case
Fleming was one of five individuals charged in connection with Perry's death. He pleaded guilty in 2024 to conspiracy to distribute ketamine, which led to Perry's death. Perry, known for his role in "Friends," was found dead in October 2023 at his Los Angeles home. The autopsy revealed ketamine as a primary cause, with drowning and heart disease as contributing factors.
## Fleming's Role and Admission
Court records indicate Fleming obtained ketamine from Jasveen Sangha, known as the 'Ketamine Queen,' and distributed it to Perry. He also supplied the drug to Perry's assistant, Kenneth Iwamasa. In court, Fleming admitted prioritizing profit over Perry's health, expressing deep regret for his actions.
## Fleming's Career in Hollywood
Before his legal troubles, Fleming directed films and worked in reality TV. He directed a 1999 film featuring Scarlett Johansson and Eva Mendes and was involved in "The Surreal Life" in 2003. Despite attempts to start a production company, his career faced setbacks.
## Sentences in the Case
Fleming is the fourth defendant to be sentenced. Jasveen Sangha received 15 years, Dr. Salvador Plasencia got 30 months, and Dr. Mark Chavez was sentenced to home detention. Kenneth Iwamasa's sentencing is pending.
## Conclusion of the Legal Proceedings
With Fleming's sentencing, the case nears its conclusion. In a statement, Fleming expressed remorse, hoping his sentence offers some justice to those affected by Perry's death.
