## New Biometric Passport Launch
Citizens of St. Kitts and Nevis residing in the UAE are among the first to access the country's new biometric passport. This development follows the launch of the National Biometric Enrolment and Passport Modernisation Programme by the Ministry of National Security and the St. Kitts and Nevis Citizenship Unit.
## Enrolment Details
The programme began on May 1, 2026, with the UAE as a Phase 1 location. Citizens can book appointments through the Biometric Enrolment Portal, eliminating the need for international travel to complete the process. The new passport includes advanced features such as a chip with fingerprints, a facial scan, and a digital signature.
## Programme Costs and Deadlines
Fees for the programme are set at USD 2,500 for the first adult, USD 2,000 for a second adult in the same family, and USD 1,300 for children under 16. These fees cover both enrolment and the passport upgrade. The deadline for completion is July 31, 2027, after which non-upgraded passports will be deactivated.
## Data Protection and Security
Biometric data is securely transmitted to systems controlled by the Government of St. Kitts and Nevis, adhering to international data protection standards. The service providers in the UAE act only as facilitators and do not have access to the data.
## Contact and Further Information
UAE residents are encouraged to book early to secure preferred appointment dates. For assistance, citizens can contact their original Authorised Agent or reach out to the St. Kitts and Nevis Citizenship Unit at biometrics@sknciu.com.
