Saudi Arabia mandates meningococcal vaccine for all Hajj workers

## Mandatory Vaccination for Hajj Workers

Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Health has announced that all workers involved in the 2026 Hajj pilgrimage must receive the meningococcal vaccine. This measure aims to prevent the spread of infectious diseases during the mass gathering.

## Health and Safety Measures

The directive, issued by the Supreme Hajj Committee, is part of broader efforts to protect both workers and pilgrims. The vaccine is effective for five years, so those vaccinated within this period do not require another dose.

## Vaccination Requirements

Receiving the vaccine is a prerequisite for obtaining a work permit for the Hajj. Workers are advised to get vaccinated at least 10 days before starting their duties to ensure full protection.

## Additional Health Recommendations

The Ministry also recommends that workers receive other vaccinations, such as for seasonal influenza and updated COVID-19 boosters. Vaccinations will be available at workplaces, including security, military, and university institutions, to enhance accessibility and preparedness.
