Abu Dhabi museums to offer free entry for International Museum Day

## Free Museum Access in Abu Dhabi

From May 16 to 18, Abu Dhabi will celebrate International Museum Day by offering free entry to several of its prominent museums. This initiative aims to promote cultural exchange and highlight the importance of museums in preserving heritage and fostering community connections.

## Featured Museums

### Zayed National Museum

Opened less than six months ago, the Zayed National Museum has already gained international acclaim, including a spot on TIME Magazine's 100 World’s Greatest Places 2026 list. Designed by Lord Norman Foster, the museum showcases over 300,000 years of UAE history and honors the legacy of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.

### Natural History Museum Abu Dhabi

This museum offers a journey through 13.8 billion years of history, featuring exhibits like Stan the T. rex and the Murchison Meteorite. Visitors can also enjoy temporary exhibitions such as March of the Triceratops.

### Louvre Abu Dhabi

As the first universal museum in the Arab world, Louvre Abu Dhabi displays artworks spanning over 10,000 years. Its current exhibition, Picasso, the Figure, explores Picasso's fascination with the human form.

### Al Ain Museum

Established in 1969, Al Ain Museum was the UAE's first museum. It is located in the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Al Ain Oasis and offers insights into the region's history through archaeological finds.

### Qasr Al Hosn

Qasr Al Hosn, Abu Dhabi's oldest stone structure, was originally a watchtower in the 1760s. It now serves as a museum, showcasing artefacts dating back to 6000 BC.

### Al Maqta’a Museum

Situated in the restored Al Maqta’a Fort, this museum features vintage police vehicles and historical uniforms. The nearby Al Maqta’a Tower is one of the emirate's earliest defensive structures.

### Delma Museum

Located on Delma Island, the Delma Museum is housed in a former pearl merchant's home. The island, first inhabited nearly 7,000 years ago, is accessible by ferry and offers a unique cultural experience.
