## Major Investment in Renewable Energy
Abu Dhabi's Mubadala has announced a $325 million investment in the Hornsea 3 offshore wind farm, located off the coast of Norfolk, England. This project is set to become the largest single offshore wind farm globally, with a planned capacity of 2.9 gigawatts.
## Partnership and Development
The investment is part of a consortium led by Apollo Global Management, which recently acquired a 50% stake in the venture. Danish company Ørsted retains the other half and will oversee the project's development and operations. Other consortium members include Canadian investors USS and La Caisse.
## Impact on UK Energy Market
Hornsea 3 is expected to generate enough electricity to power over 3.3 million homes in the UK. The country aims to achieve 50 gigawatts of offshore wind capacity by 2030 as part of its net-zero emissions strategy.
## Mubadala's Renewable Energy Strategy
Mubadala's investment aligns with its strategy to support large-scale infrastructure projects. The company has previously invested in various renewable energy platforms, including Tata Power Renewables and Skyborn Renewables. This move strengthens its partnership with Apollo and expands its renewable energy portfolio.
