Pakistan passport ranking May 2026 update: Full visa-free list revealed as travel map shifts

## Pakistan's Passport Ranking Declines

In May 2026, Pakistan's passport ranking fell to 100th place in the Henley Passport Index. This marks a decline from earlier in the year when it improved to 97th in February and 98th in January. In 2025, it was ranked 103rd. The fluctuations reflect changes in global visa policies affecting Pakistani passport holders.

## Visa-Free and Visa-On-Arrival Destinations

Despite the drop in ranking, Pakistani citizens can still travel to 30 destinations without a visa, or with visa-on-arrival (VOA) or electronic travel authorization (ETA). These include countries like Barbados, Dominica, and Rwanda for visa-free travel. VOA is available in countries such as Cambodia, Maldives, and Nepal, while Kenya, Seychelles, and Sri Lanka require an ETA.

## Changes in Global Visa Policies

The number of accessible destinations decreased from 32 in February to 30 in May, highlighting ongoing shifts in international travel agreements. The Henley Passport Index, which ranks 199 passports, bases its data on information from the International Air Transport Association (IATA). Rankings change as countries adjust their visa requirements, impacting global mobility.

## Global Mobility Gap

While Pakistan's passport ranking has seen fluctuations, countries like Singapore, Japan, and several European nations continue to lead the index, offering access to over 180 destinations. This underscores the disparity in travel freedom between top-ranked and lower-ranked passports.

## Implications for Pakistani Travelers

Experts suggest that changes in passport rankings often reflect broader policy shifts rather than significant changes in travel freedom. Despite the recent decline, Pakistani travelers still enjoy access to numerous destinations through simplified entry systems, maintaining a degree of travel flexibility.
