Dubai driver ordered to pay Dh7,500 over traffic fines row

## Court Ruling

A Dubai civil court has mandated a driver to pay Dh7,500 to a vehicle owner for traffic fines and Salik toll charges incurred while the vehicle was in his possession. The court also required the defendant to cover court fees and expenses.

## Dispute Details

The conflict arose from an alleged verbal agreement between the vehicle owner and the defendant regarding the sale of the car. The owner claimed the defendant was supposed to settle all traffic violations and transfer ownership of a damaged vehicle wreck in exchange for the car.

## Court Findings

Despite the defendant's absence in court, evidence such as vehicle registration and WhatsApp conversations indicated he acknowledged responsibility for the fines. The court found the defendant liable for Dh7,500 in financial damages.

## Rejected Claims

The court dismissed the owner's request for Dh15,000 compensation for alleged market value decline of the vehicle, citing insufficient evidence. Additionally, the request to transfer 35 black traffic points to the defendant's traffic file was denied, as violations remain with the registered owner at the time of the offence.
