Strait of Hormuz crisis: US blockade on Iran remains fully enforced, 58 ships redirected

## US Enforces Blockade

The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) has confirmed the continuation of its naval blockade on Iran, effectively controlling maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz. Since April 13, 58 commercial ships have been redirected to prevent them from accessing Iranian ports.

## Tankers Disabled

In recent operations, US forces disabled three Iranian-flagged oil tankers. On May 8, the M/T Sea Star III and M/T Sevda were targeted by precision munitions from a US Navy F/A-18 Super Hornet, preventing their entry into Iranian waters. Earlier, on May 6, the M/T Hasna was halted by cannon fire directed at its rudder.

## Strategic Importance

The blockade aims to maintain control over the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global energy transit route. US naval forces are actively monitoring and intercepting vessels suspected of violating the blockade, amidst heightened regional tensions.

## Official Statement

Adm. Brad Cooper of CENTCOM emphasized the commitment to enforcing the blockade, highlighting the efforts of US military personnel in the region.
