## New Initiative for AI Skills
The UAE has introduced "Digital Talents in Sharjah," a two-year program aimed at equipping students with skills in artificial intelligence and digital technologies. This initiative is a collaboration between the UAE's Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy and Remote Work Applications Office, the University of Sharjah, and the American University of Sharjah, along with tech giants Google, Microsoft, Oracle, and upGrad.
## Bridging Education and Industry
The program seeks to close the gap between academic learning and industry requirements by providing students with practical training and professional certifications. It aims to prepare graduates for the demands of the modern workforce by enhancing their digital capabilities.
## Strategic Partnerships
The initiative was officially launched in the presence of Omar Sultan Al Olama, UAE's Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence. It involves a Memorandum of Understanding signed by Saqr Binghalib, Executive Director of the UAE Artificial Intelligence Office, and Dr. Tod Laursen, Chancellor of the American University of Sharjah. This collaboration represents a model for integrating government, academia, and industry to foster national talent in AI.
## Supporting UAE's AI Strategy
Saqr Binghalib emphasized that this initiative aligns with the UAE's strategy to lead in artificial intelligence by investing in human capital. It aims to prepare young talent to drive digital transformation and innovation across various sectors.
## Role of Global Tech Companies
Professor Dr. Esameldin Agami from the University of Sharjah highlighted the importance of partnerships with global tech companies to align education with the digital economy's needs. Oracle's Amr Aljundi and Microsoft's Caroline Mutepfa underscored their commitment to empowering students with future-ready skills and supporting the UAE's vision for a knowledge-based economy.
