## Settlement Details Apple has agreed to a $250 million settlement to resolve a class action lawsuit. The lawsuit accused the company of misleading consumers about the AI capabilities of its Siri voice assistant on iPhone 16 and 15 models. The settlement, which does not include an admission of wrongdoing by Apple, awaits court approval.
## Allegations The plaintiffs claimed Apple falsely advertised Siri's AI features to boost sales, suggesting capabilities that were not available at the time. The US advertising watchdog supported these claims, stating Apple misrepresented Siri's availability.
## Impact on Consumers The settlement covers approximately 36 million devices purchased in the US between June 2024 and March 2025. Eligible consumers could receive compensation ranging from $25 to $95 per device, depending on the number of claims filed.
## Apple's Response Apple stated the settlement allows them to focus on innovation. The company had previously launched a major advertising campaign in 2024 to promote Siri's enhanced features, which were later delayed indefinitely.
## Next Steps The settlement is pending approval by Judge Noel Wise of the Northern District of California, with a hearing scheduled for June 17, 2026.
