A Saudi man has been sentenced to seven years in prison and fined approximately Dh3.8 million by a Kuwaiti court for his involvement in a citizenship forgery scheme. The case, which spanned over three decades, involved the fraudulent acquisition of Kuwaiti citizenship.

The defendant, who was serving in the military, was found guilty of obtaining Kuwaiti citizenship by falsely claiming to be the son of a person whose citizenship was later revoked. This deception was confirmed through biometric fingerprint analysis matching his Saudi identity card.

## Consequences and Penalties

The court also sentenced the man's father, who was tried in absentia, to seven years in prison. The defendant used the forged citizenship to secure government jobs, including positions at the Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of Interior, gaining financial benefits exceeding Dh1.26 million.

## Legal Proceedings

The ruling was delivered by a panel of judges led by Judge Al Dhuwaihi Al Dhuwaihi. The case is considered one of the most significant citizenship forgery cases in recent history.
